6th Umpire School in Sri Lanka a Big Success


30 highly motivated people including those from Navy, Army, Air Force, Colleges attended 6th Umpire Clinic organized by SLABSA (Sri Lanka Amateur Baseball Softball Association) and Baseball Federation of Asia, supported by World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) in Colombo on January 28 and 29, 2017rnKatsuhito Koyama, a veteran international umpire of Baseball Federation of Japan led the clinic with Sujeewa Wijayanayake, an international umpire of Sri Lanka residing in Japan, and other Japanese umpires acting as instructors. Sujeewa, who is fluent in English, Sinhalese and Japanese, contributed to the success of the clinic both as a teacher and an interpreter.rnKoyama was impressed with the level of umpiring skill and enthusiasm of students who were eager to learn through questions and answers. At the conclusion of the clinic, the participants received the course completion certificated marked by SLABA, WBSC and BFA
