XXV IBAF 18U Baseball World Championship Commences in Seoul
Japanese Roster Features 20 Best High School Players

The 20 Junior National Team Players, coaches and staff that will represent Japan at the IBAF 18U Baseball World Championships August 30th-Septmember 8th arrived in Seoul on August 28 and held a practice on August 29th prior to opening the 12-team tournament on August 30th against Czech Republic at 9 am at Jamsil Stadium where the demonstration tournament at the 1988 Olympic Games took place.

12 teams are split into two groups with Chinese Taipei, the defending champion, leading Pool B with Japan, Canada, Panama, the Czech Republic and Italy. Host Korea is at the top of Pool A with Team USA, Venezuela, Australia, Colombia and the Netherlands.

The first round will take in a round robin format with the top three from each pool moving up to the second round. The advancing teams will keep their records except for the games against the eliminated teams. After another round robin the top two teams will reach the Gold Medal Game.
