93rd Japan High School National Championship Began

The 93rd Japan High School Baseball National Championship at the Hanshin Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture started on August 6 for 15 days participated by 49 regional champions representing 47 prefectures (except 2 each from Tokyo and Hokkaido). The Japan High School Baseball Federation has 4,090 high school teams comprising 166,925 players as registered members. At the opening ceremony, 6 players from the 3 prefectures of the 3/11 disaster carrying the banner “Ganbaro (hung in there) Nippon!” led the parade.
