YAMAHA wins 42nd National Championship of Japan Amateur Baseball Association (JABA)


The final game of the 42nd National Championship of Japan Amateur Baseball Association (JABA) co-hosted by The Mainichi and Osaka City, and participated by 32 teams at Kyocera Dome Osaka on November 8th 2016 saw winning of YAMAHA of Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka for the first time. YAMAHA blocked Nippon Transport’s (Sitama) attempt to claim the title for the second time by beating 3-2. The total attendance for the 11 days increased by 5,000 over the last year’s 157,000.
Pitchers Kagami (JR West Japan) and Saruwatari (Osaka Gas) who achieved no-hitter as the second and third in history received special award, pitcher Shun Ikeda of YAMAHA who is fourth draft pick by Tokyo Yomiuri Giants was awarded MVP.
