28th World Children’s Baseball Fair 2018 in Matsue City Held Successfully

The 28th edition of the World Children’s Baseball Foundation (WCBF) 2018 has ended on August 8 after concluding 8 days of fun and excitement for children to learn baseball from ground zero. Sadaharu OH (78), WCBF President and former Tokyo Yomiuri Giants great who slugged 868 carrier home runs mixed with children in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture and wished them to experience wider world as well as joy and fun of baseball first hand.

120 girls and boys of 10-and 11 years old from 14 countries/regions learned to play baseball from ten veteran coaches of the World Baseball Softball Confederation and participated in cultural and other sport events to create goodwill and friendship.

Chinese Taipei played 6 games against Japanese junior teams with 5 wins and 1 loss. Malaysia, Mongol and Nepal from Asian region were also invited to WCBF 2018.

The opening ceremony was held indoor to escape unusual heat wave, and the closing ceremony had to be cancelled to let participants to leave Japan a day earlier owing to a typhoon forecast in Tokyo and neighboring areas.
