Tokyo Big-6 University League to hold games in empty stadium due to state of emergency

For the first time in its 94-years’ history, Tokyo Big-6 University League decided to hold 2021 Spring Competition without fans during a COVID-19 pandemic state of emergency is in force. Japan on Friday declared "short and powerful" states of emergency effective from Sunday for Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo as the country struggles to contain a resurgent coronavirus pandemic three months before the Olympics.

The Spring Series of Tokyo Big-6 started at Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium by double-robin contest on Saturday, April 17 with a maximum number of 10,000 which was halved to 5,000 from April 17.
